PHOENIX

From a far too young age, Jill has acted as the adult in her family. She cares for her loving, but mentally unstable mother as well as for her younger brother. The news that their estranged father will be visiting provide the children with much-needed hope. But, their mother cannot cope with her situation and makes a fatal decision. Determined to prevent anything from destroying the reunion with her father, Jill decides to conceal what has happened at home.

The story is partially based on director Camilla Strøm Henriksen own life. It portraits a strong story of having to take on a huge burden at an early age.

I had the pleasure to grade "Phoenix" together with director Henriksen and DoP Jorming.
The cinematography and light is beautifully executed. With a rich sence of light and dark that really supports the story.

The Norwegian cinema premiere is September 2018.
