Director Nina Knag delivers a strong story in this short film.
We meet a girl, Alexa, and her young mother in a awkward situation where the brutal truth of being poor comes to light.
What does it feel like to not be able to offer your child it's basic needs?
Knag and cinematographer Karl Erik Brøndbo take us on a journey of social realism where we can feel the pain and joy.
Alexa takes control and helps her mother in their time of need.
It was great fun grading this short movie. The initial reference for the look was the work of director Andrea Arnold, including films like WASP and Fish Tank.
We tried different approaches and made our own twist to the colour and texture of the film, where we wanted to make things gritty and real.
The production design already had a defined palette including hues of blue, green and magenta. All of which we built upon.
Brøndbo is a very talented DOP with a great eye for story and aesthetics, the choice of shooting in 1.33:1 aspect enables the audience get closer to the characters.
The film will be available at festivals throughout early 2016.
