DAG (SEASON 4)

The relationship counsellor Dag Refsnes is back on our TV-screens in Spetember! Season four gives the fans the last ten episodes of this award winning TV-series, all jam-packed with weird and wonderful happenings from Dag's twisted universe. Hugely-celebrated in its native Norway, Dag offers a darkly hilarious perspective on modern life, love and relationships.

Dag fights his everyday demons, still not sure how to maintain a proper relationship with his girlfriend Eva while trying to be a responsible father for her child.

The series features an all-star lineup of international / scandinavian actors. Atle Antonsen as Dag, Anders Baasmo Christiansen as his one-tracked-minded friend Benedikt, Agnes Kittelsen as Dag's playful secretary and Tuva Novotny as Eva. Rolf Lassgård as Dag's private therapist Ernst. Danish actress Iben Hjejle (High Fidelity) plays a Eva's ex-transsexual boyfriend. A new character for season four is Annie, played by the lovely MyAnna Buring (RIpper Street, Downton Abbey).

Director / writer Øystein Karlsen has a firm grip on the storytelling and has shown yet again his great talent for creating interesting characters and cool straight to the point dialog. His scriptwriting partner in arms is the uber-talented Kristopher Schau.

This is the forth season I had the honour to grade. This season was shot entirely on Canon C500 cameras using external Prores4444 recorders (PIX240 and Oddessy 7Q), which has given an enormous improvement in image quality compared to onboard MPEG2 50Mbits codec used by the Canon C300 used last season. The C500s shot in Canon Log mode, giving even more grading latitude. This is light years away from what we had to work with on season one and two, which both where shot on Canon 1D Mk4 DSLRs.

Together with DOP Pål Bugge Haagenrud and director Øystein Karlsen, we created a high contrast "edgy" grade that we think complements the story well. I graded the entire season on Da Vinci Resolve 11 (MAC), giving limitless creative possibilities. This series was really cool to grade since we needed to come up with a wide variety of looks to follow the story arc. I Loved it! My favorite episodes to grade this season where episode 7 and 9 due to really storylines and locations, all of which needed a smashing grade.

Season four airs on Norwegian TV2, Thursday 17th August 2017, and will also be available throughout scandinavia. Season one of the show has just started in the UK on Sky Arts, so don't miss it! Be the first to check out the original version, since a remake might happen soon(?). Several british newspapers have given Dag good reviews, amoung others The Guardian, The Radio Times and Financial Times.

The norwegian press gave this season amazing reviews.

For the fans, four "one night only" special cinema events where created in Norway´s four largest cities. A four and a half hour theatrical screening of the entire season in one evening. It was really cool to see the series projected in a large proper cinema via DCP. Dag4 was also screened at Fantastic Fest 2015 in Austin Texas!

"Dag" has been sold to a number of countries, and previous seasons are available on Netflix in some regions. Be sure to check them out!
