High fashion and stunning models out on the town. Director Carl Christian Raabe is here with his debut tv-commercial for the online-fashion-store, nevernaked.com.
Even though this is his first commercial, Calle is well known as a great still photographer and has directed a number of behind-the-scenes documentaries for some of the largest Norwegian feature films, including the likes of "Kon-Tiki", "Ragnarok" and "Headhunters".
I was really pleased when he contacted me to grade and online this 40 sec tvc.
The cinematography is by DOP Andreas Langeland Bjørseth, with additional footage shot by the director.
The weapons of choice where Canon 5D Mk3 and 5D Mk2. This meant that I needed to give the footage some extra “love” before grading.
Basically getting rid of some ugly digital artifacts. This gave a better starting point for the creative coloring.
We tried out a couple of different looks, and landed on a warm creamy feeling. Making sure that the models had yummy skin-tones and a slight vintage vibe.
To enhance the vintage feeling, we added 35mm film-grain and transitions from the awesome Cinegrain collection. Creating a more organic texture to the images.
All in all we had great fun. Great client too. They were really interested in the creative process, and even blogged about it too!
I hope to do more for them in the near future.
